Google offers two forms of stars in its search engine results:

Seller ratings is an automated Google extension that informs search engine users which advertisers are highly rated for their service. If your business has a Google AdWords campaign, Feefo can send your reviews directly to Google for inclusion in the search results. Assuming your Feefo account is correctly configured, each night we send Google any reviews received in the previous 24 hours, and every quarter a full update of all reviews is submitted.

Google will display a star rating as part of your Google Shopping ads subject to the following criteria:

  • You have collected a minimum of 100 unique and verified reviews per country, over the past 12 months

  • You have achieved a combined rating of 3.5 or higher

  • Collected reviews have been left within 90 days from the original transaction

  • You are not offering any kind of financial incentive in exchange for reviews - that includes gift cards, discounts and free samples, for example

  • Please refer to Google's full Seller Ratings Partner Requirements for more information

Once this criteria has been met, Google will begin to display a star rating alongside the search results in the ad at the top of the search engine results page (SERP) but it can take up to 8 weeks after the threshold is reached for Google to begin displaying the stars. The results will look similar to:

Google Shopping ads are displayed in the following countries:

Algeria, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Bahamas, Bahrain, Belgium, Belize, Bhutan, Brazil, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Canada, Chad, Chile, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cote d'Ivoire, Czechia, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, El Salvador, Fiji, France, Gabon, Germany, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Jordan, Kuwait, Libya, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Maldives, Mali, Mexico, Morocco, Namibia, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Norway, Oman, Panama, Papua New Guinea, Paraguay, the Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, State of Palestine, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, the United States, Uruguay, Venezuela, Vietnam

Note that the reviews sent by Feefo are tied to the originating site domain name. For example, if you have three sites subscribed to Feefo as sub-brands, reviews will only be applied to the originating site. To check which of your website reviews Google has already received, head to https://www.google.com/shopping/ratings/account/lookup?q={yourwebsite}. You will need to change {yourwebsite} to your website’s URL (for example, feefo.com).

Organic stars (gold star ratings) are rich snippets that are displayed in the SERP through application of the Product Schema mark-up to the product or service pages. These stars can be only achieved for individual product pages (not a category or collection of products) and must collect reviews. Organic stars are totally independent of the stars associated with Shopping Ads. If you collect reviews via our on-page integration, Feefo widget will insert the necessary Product schema mark-up that can be eligible for the gold star ratings in SERP.

The website will need to be fully indexed by Google before the stars appear, and the page must have at least one review (and rating) for the gold star rating rich snippets to appear.
